What the heck happened? Maintaining Facebook Reach for Brands

Brand presence on Facebook has become a controversial topic over the last few months as Facebook reach has become less about the organic interaction with its users, and more about how much advertisers are willing to pay to interact with Facebook’s millions of users.  The algorithms have changed.  And that means brands need to re-think.

Social media managers don’t need to watch their Facebook success go backwards. Here are a few common sense tips to help out:

  • #hashtags #are #not #working. But we applaud Facebook for trying. Keeping your post clean, simple and well structured will go much further. Hashtags on Facebook come across as lazy, like you just copy and pasted your Twitter post and couldn’t be bothered to edit it before publishing. Put the time in to tailor your content for the platform and audience you are trying to reach. Great idea’s can fail or succeed on this principle.
  • Be mobile friendly. The amount of users who log into Facebook using a mobile device is estimated to be at 78% in the USA alone. Scrolling through small text means advertisers need to make a big impact to get users attention. It’s easy to pass by an advertisement on mobile, so make your most interesting content the highlight of your page. Attach a picture that begs to be given a second glance.
  • Posting often and at different times of day are you best strategies to increase your overall reach and brand awareness. Pages that post at least three times a day get very high age reach metrics and better brand awareness than pages that only post once a day or fewer.
  • Finally, put a few bucks towards “boosting” your post. It may not take your post viral, however, the more screens your post can read, the more interest will be generated. Throw $10 at your next post, watch the results and evaluate from there.Image via: socialandmediavegas.com
