One “Event-Full” Fall

This fall the Flying Camel team has literally taken flight all over the world launching exciting new programs and events. From San Diego to London, the caravan has been hard at work making things happen for our awesome clients. Here are a few exciting highlights of what we’ve been up to!

CEDIA Expo in San Diego

Leanne, Erin, and Kim headed to sunny San Diego for the 2018 CEDIA Expo held from September 6-9th. It was an incredible week covering the show live on social. With over 20,000 home tech pros and more than 500 exhibitors, the team immersed themselves in smart home tech products, breakthrough innovations, and tech integration.

Flying Camel also managed the show’s inaugural TechBites program on the CEDIA Smart Stage. TechBites featured 12 select brands who took part in a fun and informative “speed dating” presentation, where they showcased their latest products in a 3-minute pitch in front of key media, tech influencers, and industry attendees.

DXV Design Panel Reveal in New York City

On September 11th and 12th, Leanne and Olivia headed to the Big Apple for the DXV 2018 Design Panel Reveal event at the Agora Gallery in Chelsea. The event theme was Art. The Masters., which invited this year’s chosen DXV design panelists to create a stunning space inspired by an artist and their work from a specific artistic movement. All four vignettes aligned with each of the DXV design movements: Classic, Golden Era, Modern, and Contemporary.

To reflect this unique theme, large-scale photography of each designer’s space was printed and hung from the walls in the space, turning the event into a true gallery exhibit. Adorned pedestals with DXV products were placed strategically throughout the space, giving guests the opportunity to interact with not only the photography but stylized pieces from each design.

The event was hosted by Jean-Jacques L’Henaff, Vice President of Design for LIXIL, and Veronika Miller, CEO of Modenus. A short Q&A discussion between Veronika Miller and 2017 panelists Michelle Alfano and Alison Habermehl took place, where they discussed how their previous experience being on the panel has affected their careers as designers. This discussion was followed by individual designer presentations from the 2018 panelists, who walked attendees through their designs and inspirations.

DXV Open Studio at IDS West in Vancouver

From New York City to Vancouver, Leanne flew to the West Coast for the 2018 Interior Design Show in support of our client LIXIL. Working with eight different design studios, we tapped into seven collections from American Standard, DXV, and GROHE to create an assortment of unique vignettes, each interpreting this year’s Open Studio theme “The Retreat” which were unveiled during IDS Vancouver.

This hand-picked group of designers included Emerge Design, &Daughters, CASESTUDY, Madeleine Design Group, AK Designs, IDO Design, Angela Robinson Design, and Kendall Ansell Interiors (pictured below). Vignettes ranged from beautiful, functional, and engaging to modern and truly unconventional, showcasing the endless design possibilities available from each brand.

Design Chicago

At the beginning of October, Kim had the opportunity to travel to Design Chicago on behalf of our client the NKBA. The morning started with coffee (of course) and a tour of the Merchandise Mart with NKBA Insiders Elle H-Millard and Bob Borson. The whole group fell head over heels with the new offerings from Ann Sacks, Miele, Monogram, Katonah Hardware, House of Rohl and Moen.

Travelling around this trade-only, residential design summit, Kim was amazed by the extent to which connectivity is driving innovation in the industry. This was especially evident in the two exciting panel discussions: “Island Living – The Evolution of the Kitchen Island” at the Poggenpohl showroom and the Kitchen and Bath Technology Usage Report presentation by Suzie Williford, CSO and Executive Vice President for the NKBA, followed by the “Designers Are Desired” conversation led by Pam McNally, Vice President of Digital at SANDOW.

Standing behind the camera, live broadcasting these sessions on Facebook, it was clear that technology has a hand in every industry and kitchen and bath design is no exception!

London Design week
As part of the NKBA Global Connect program, spearheaded by Veronika Miller of Modenus, we took DesignBites across the pond!  British manufacturers told their fabulous product stories in front of visiting North American media. The media attended as guests of the NKBA to cover the London Design Festival and to build relationships with British brands. Leanne, attending from Flying Camel, worked with amazing UK brands including Ted Todd Flooring, CTO Lighting, Drummond UK, Buster & Punch, London Basin Company, Victoria & Albert, and Tom Faulkner.

The fun never stops. Stay tuned for more Flying Camel adventures!
